Tips for settling into your Baton Rouge Apartment

by The Rent Guy on March 6, 2010

There are very few activities we do as humans that are as exhausting as moving. From the stress of worrying about things getting broken and the cost of hiring a moving company to the physical stress of carrying all those heavy boxes, moving takes a toll like nothing else. Once the final box has been put down and the moving company has been paid, you are going to need to relax. Here are a few post-moving tips you can follow to make your life a bit easier after moving to your Baton Rouge Apartment.

You are going to need to know where the important things are in your myriad of boxes so you can unpack those first. Things like bedding, glasses and plates and your television remote control are top priority items. When you pack, try to keep track of important things by writing them down and assigning each box a number so you can grab your notebook when you are at your new place and figure out that the coffee maker is in box 12 and the utensils are in box 38.

Don’t try to do anything too fancy your first night at your new place. Yes, you are going to want to christen your new living space with a fine meal, but wait until night two or three to do so. Try getting delivery or some other low effort dining options your first day.

Make sure you have all of your utilities moved over and turned on ahead of time so that when you move in, you don’t have to wait for the power to be turned on or your cable to start working. If you need Internet right away, make sure that is moved over as well. It will help bring about a sense of normalcy sooner rather than later.
